The company wanted to digitize a successful board game from AWS re:Invent 2023 and use it as the foundation for an internal hackathon. The goal was to encourage innovation, engage employees across departments, and develop solutions with real business impact. My role was to design a user-centric registration page and internal communications to drive awareness and engagement.

The Challenge
Creating an engaging, user-friendly hackathon webpage for employee registration while ensuring clear communication about incentives, participation guidelines, and project expectations. The platform needed to drive awareness, streamline sign-ups, and foster cross-team collaboration.
The Solution
Using insights from UX research, I structured the page for easy navigation and quick sign-ups. The design process involved wireframing, high-fidelity prototyping, and iterative improvements based on stakeholder feedback. Internal communications, including promotional emailers, creatives and reminders, were created to drive awareness and increase participation. By collaborating with stakeholders and department heads, we aligned the event with real business challenges, making the hackathon both engaging and impactful.
The Result
The hackathon was a major success. Employees developed real-world solutions, with one standout project leading to the creation of OllieAI, a GenAI-powered tool that centralized resources for engineering, finance, marketing, and business operations. This resulted in a 30% reduction in turnaround times, significantly improving efficiency. The event showcased employee innovation and strengthened cross-team collaboration, reinforcing the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and technological advancement.
